“Why is my life stagnant?”

Dear Christian,

You may have some expectations on where you want your life to go, or how you want to experience God or even just your salvation journey. Just because it may not be going the way you intend, doesn’t mean it is not going the way God intended it to go.

When we come to Christ, we crucify our own lives and give ourselves to Him. Colossians 3:3 says ‘For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God’. Galatians 2:20 adds ‘I have been crucified with Christ; It is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me’

The problem we have is that we begin to live for ourselves and live on our own terms, trying to save our lives, for which we can’t sustain alone. The flesh and its desires become louder than our spirit, which is why we may feel stagnant. We’ve not handed God our plans and desires. The lusts of the flesh are contrary to that of the spirit, causing you to be in the same position as the spirit is suppressed from leading you.

You may be experiencing the same cycles or feeling like you’re stuck in the same season because of this. A season can drag until you learn lessons from that season and develop yourself. You will remain there longer than planned. The same way the children of Isreal remained in the wilderness for 40 years for a journey that should’ve taken less time by more than half of that number. This is our duty and responsibility to fish out the development and lessons from things we go through, to equip us for the next one.

God gives us all things but He is not going to give us perfection. We have to work towards it. The only work we have to do is in the physical because God done everything already in the spiritual. We are already seated in heavenly place and are now one spirit with His Spirit. The work left to do is in the natural realm. God is not going to give us a developed character. That’s our responsibility. Self-control, kindness, long suffering, gentleness, faithfulness, etc are all attributes we learn to become. We don’t just become these things. These a fruits of the spirit that we gain from intimacy with Jesus.

Trials will come, then through that trial we use it to help build our character and perseverance. A lazy person can never be rich. God will not going to give us everything on a platter my brother and sister. He is a God that still gives us the ability to chose and make our own decisions because that’s the relationship with have with Him. He doesn’t want to create clones but individuals that can be fruitful and wise through His shepherding.

Our problem as Christians, is that we are waiting on God too much, when God is waiting on us. The reason why the knowledge you have of God is the same as when you first came to Christ is because you are waiting on Him to reveal Himself in a new way when you ought to seek Him out. He said seek Me while I may be found.

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.” ~ ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭6‬ ‭‬‬

Ask and you will find but you’ve not asked. Moses spoke to God face to face and still asked to encounter His glory after. Jacob wrestled with God until he received His blessing. David sought the face of God during times of famine. Sometimes the will of God includes you having to fight and labour for change. Saying let your will be done without taking any action won’t change anything. He is waiting for an activation, a provoking word from you that will speed up your season. Isaiah 1:18 God says “come let us reason together”. He also wants to hear what you would like and what makes you happy. How do you think Abraham managed to save his friend lot from being consumed by Gods wrath in the middle of Sodom and Gomorrah.

If you’re truly tired of feeling stagnant, try out the tips I have listed about and be ready to see change. Prepare and welcome new opportunities and encounters before they arise because they will come, just make room for it. Don’t fear change or uncomfortability. You will reach new heights in Jesus name!

“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous” ~ ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭‬‬

I pray against any form of delays and stagnation in your life. I pray for a boldness and a strong mindset, that you’ll be able to take your blessings by force. And that you experience God that will change your life IJN!

Many blessings, D x
