7 Day
Healing
Devotional

9TH AUGUST 2021

DAY ONE

What is healing?

Healing is the process of curing the body of any unnatural or foreign things that does not belong. It’s a cure rather than a coping mechanism. Healing doesn’t mean it’s giving you the ability to cope or to manage with that long term disease or that ailment, it is the complete termination of that issue.

Healing is dependent on two things. The first thing being spoken about today is faith. As you could have already guessed. Faith is like a currency in the spirit. “According to your faith, let it be to you” Jesus said, in Matthew 9:29. How much faith do you have to receive that thing you’re asking for?

Has a similar thing been done before in your life? Examine your faith and compare your faith to the healing you’re asking for, whether it’s still the size of a mustard seed or as big a mustard seed tree. Look into receiving more of the word of God. Not just the written Word, which is Logos (in Greek) but the living Word which is Rhema (in Greek).

How do you know if you’ve caught the Rhema? Simple. There are many ways, including if you can discern Gods voice but I’m only going to mention one. Rhema is directly translated as utterance, which is the spoken word. So, if you read the word and it resonates so strong in your heart that it comes back into your remembrance during the day, for example, and it provokes you into either loving, knowing God more or into doing something in accordance to God’s will for you life. Then you have caught the Rhema word of God. In Mark 14 where Peter denied Jesus three times, verse 17 says “A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, ‘before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times”. The ‘word’ being spoken here is Rhema, which caused him to weep in response, as verse 72 continues to say.

Here’s a few verses that reference to the Rhema-word:

  • John 6:63

  • Acts 11:14

  • John 14:10

  • Hebrews 11:3

Here’s some verses that reference to the logos word:

  • Matthew 7:26

  • Matthew 8:16

  • Psalms 119:89

Rhema, the word that resembles a living voice because it is exactly that. It is the spoken word coming to life. Rhema is present tense whilst logos is all past, present and future because Jesus Is Logos (John 1:14, Revelation 19:13) and Rhema is the Holy Spirit (John 15:7 “My Words abide in you”) (Disclaimer: The Holy Spirit dwells in us - 2 Timothy 1:14 “through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us”). So, it is by the Rhema-word that (spiritual) hearing cometh. (KJV gives us more emphasis here). And then it is by the Logos-word that Rhema is produced.

It is important to know these fundamentals when building on your faith because faith isn’t walking blindly, pretending there’s no evidence of the illness. Faith is information. Faith tells you, ‘yes this doctors report tells me this, but God is telling me this’. That’s what makes it faith, having confidence in God in the ‘impossible’ things. The problem was there, thats what makes it a miracle and also a testimony.

Further reading:

  • Hebrews 11:1-3

  • Romans 10:17

Declaration:

I am not going to second guess God when He speaks to me. I will take what He says and run with it! If He says I am healed, I am healed! If He says I am free of any bondage or entanglements that I may got myself into, then I am free indeed! I am a child of God and will believe in all that God has said about me! Amen.

DAY TWO

Testing your faith

Today we shall look at examining your faith as mentioned previously. On our way to building faith, testing it is very important. The more you test something is the more you train it. And the more you train something, is the more that it grows. Let’s take training a muscle for example, in the beginning that muscle may be small and weak but with more weights, more exercise and more training, it will grow and become stronger. The process will be painful and might even feel weird but will always bring results.

Like speaking to a pimple, that might feel weird at first but results will be produced. Prophetess Bebe angel once said, if you can’t pray for a pimple on your face to go away, how will you command healing over bigger things in your life, if you don’t have enough faith to remove a small pimple. Imagine. So start off with the smaller things to test your faith.

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.”

Paul tells us clearly to test ourselves and to see whether we are in the faith. The reason why you test something is to prove it works. Testing your faith, which comes from the word of God, is the same as testing God. Testing and not tempting. See how when Paul says to test yourself, he follows on by saying “or do you not realise this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?” (ESV). So who really is being tested then... Christ. Because it is no longer you that lives (Galatians 2:20). Look at prophet Elijah in 1 kings 18, asking the Lord to reveal Himself in the fire over the burnt sacrifice, praying that the people watching may know that He is the Lord God, and to turn their hearts towards God (verse 37-38). These are things considered as legal requests before God. So that pimple, that illness, that dream job or that financial situation. As long as you’re in right standing with God, in your heart, God will most defiantly show up and show out in your situation like he did for Elijah. It’s only fake notes or fake news that don’t like being tested because of what will be revealed.

Further reading:

  • 1 kings 18:20-40

  •  James 1:3

Declaration:

I am going to step out in faith and also test my faith by commanding things that I want to be, to be. I shall demand healing over my life in the name of Jesus. My heart shall remain to be after God’s own heart and shall be in the right posture before God. And I shall move by faith and not by sight. Amen.

DAY THREE

The second thing

Here’s the second thing that is needed for healing. I mentioned faith as being the first thing, which is very important. But so is the second thing, which is people. The person being healed and the person doing the healing. People who are confident in God and are able to take a leap of faith, get healed. Healing can’t come to you, so you have to be the one to go and get it. Healing is not something that can locate you but it is possible for the person who has the ability to heal you, to also locate you, like in prophetic churches.

Most people you see in the bible that needed healing or needed something from a man of God, had to sought for him in order to receive what they wanted, like the blind men in the epistles to Cornelius in the book of Acts. Matthew 21:14 (NKJV) says, “Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them”. If these men were blind, how did they come to Jesus. It’s because they had examined their faith and walked in it. Same with the man who was born blind, Jesus “spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam”. So he went and washed, and came back seeing” (John 9:6-7 NKJV). You see that… no questions asked, he went with the clay still covering his eyes towards the pool. Who knows how far that pool was or if he knew what it even looked like, since he was born blind. His flesh was blind but his spirit was not. This is a clear representation of 2 Corinthians 5:7 which says “we walk by faith, not by sight”. He took Jesus’ word for it and ran with it. His faith produced obedience and with his obedience, he was given guidance.

When you truly have faith, you allow it to guide you and to do as the Lord has commanded. Even if it doesn’t make sense, as long as it makes faith! Everyone that Jesus healed, He had the will to the perform it (Matthew 8:3) and the people responding had the faith to correspond. The truth is you are already healed before you’re healed. Yes! The reason why I say this is because sometimes we need someone to point it out and remind us of what we already have before it can actually be useful in our lives. The prodigal son is a good example of this, shown in Luke 15, how he got angry at his younger brother for the fatted calf that was being killed for him. But, didn’t realise that those fatted calf and all that his father had was already his. That’s why his father now said in verse 31, “son, you are always with me and all the I have is yours”. He failed to realised what he already had. Same with the people who Jesus healed, the faith they had when approaching Jesus was enough to heal them but it’s only until Jesus says “go your way, your faith has made you well” (Luke 17:19) that they are now able to operate in it. Not by Jesus’ faith. Their own faith. To the point where Jesus saw “great faith” in a man that was asking for healing. What was going on here? He had the knowledge but lacked the understanding of it. This was the centurion man, in Matthew 8, who asked Jesus to heal his paralysed servant from where they were standing, while the servant was far in his master’s house. I call this ‘Bluetooth healing’. As in contact-free. Jesus offered to go to him and heal him (Matthew 8:7) but the centurion said just a word (Logos) is enough to heal him. This made Jesus respond in amazement to which he replied saying “as you have believed (past tense), so let it be done for you”. Ginomai (Greek translation) which means to let it come into being (manifestation), so transitioning from one point to another. So what was already in the spirit became in the natural. In our spiritual bodies, there is no disability or illness. So what had taken place in the spirit, had now taken place in the natural for him. The invisible became visible.

Further reading:

  •  Matthew 8:5-13

  •  Isaiah 53:4

  •  Ephesians 3:20

Declaration:

I will step out in the faith that I have. I am able to do exceedingly and abundantly because that is according to the power that works in me. I am a conquer and an overcomer. The disability, this feeling or this illness is not bigger than He that is in me, so I can be healed at any moment as long as I recognise and understand Him. As my spirit is, so shall I be. There is nothing that can defeat me so long as I trust and faith in God. Amen.

DAY FOUR

Healing from Heartbreak

Heartbreak is one silence killer, to which there is a medical term for it called takotsubo cardiomyopathy. We all must have dealt with it once in our lives and many could still be dealing with it right now. From childhood, high school playground heartbreak to heartbreak from a potential spouse. Maybe you were in a relationship that you may have thought could’ve gone somewhere, like marriage, but the other person didn’t feel the same way and failed to reiterate it you, until the day they decided to end the relationship. Or maybe it’s that heartbreak from a broken marriage. These experiences happen and some of them had to happen to reveal apart of your character that you didn’t know was there or to remove any idolatry in your life. Sometimes these painful situations shape us into who we are today. And sometimes it could’ve saved you from future heart break from that person, meaning you dodged a bullet. As people love to say ‘man’s rejection is God’s protection’. Well, that’s not always the case but in terms of getting your heart broken and those that are currently experiencing that right now, this one is for you…

Whether it is heart break from work, education, or relationships. It’s that heartbreak that came from the expectations that you had set. Already, I can tell you that’s where you failed. Especially in relationships, setting expectations that can not always be met, even the ones that can be met will leave room for heart break when they are not met. The reason why you experience heart break is not because the person disappointed you or didn’t meet that criteria that you set but it is because you set that expectation to begin with. The bible says, if you exalt yourself, you shall be humbled (Luke 14:11). Did he say you shall be his wife.. or you put yourself there. LOL, I’m not sending shots but just think about it. It is the same thing as making a list or a law for someone to follow. Sin can not be counted where there is no law (Romans 5:13) and we all know where there are rules, you’re likely to break them. That’s why God offered grace because He knew we will always fall short, even if we try to follow all the law, for example, we are likely to break one, meaning we have broken all of them (James 2:10). For transgression, disappointment and shame were not seen until the law was made. So don’t make them.

There’s a wise prophet in the Lord that I know, a low-key man of God that’s still very anointed, who once said “there’s no such thing as heartbreak. The reason why you feel heart break is because you’ve broken your own heart. How can your heart be broken if you have given all your heart to the Lord.”

Which is very deep because Jesus tells us to love the Lord with all our heart, all your soul and all your mind (Matthew 22:37) meaning there is no room for you to give your heart to a person, if all of it has been given to God. Including proverbs 3:5 which says to “trust the Lord with all your heart.” And for one thing, the heart is also desperately wicked so why would you give to someone else whose heart is also desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Two ‘wicked’s makes even more wickedness but when you give your wicked heart to God, the wickedness is cancelled out by his loving and compassionate heart.

That’s why God emphasised, through Jesus, when he said “let not your heart be troubled”. So the only thing that is troubling it is you. Meaning, the only thing that is breaking your heart is you. You have to not let it affect you. For example, let’s take an offence. They will always come but its up to you how you take it (Luke 17:1 NKJV). So don’t let anything affect you. Put a lock around your heart and guard it will all diligence cause out of it flows the issues of life. The heart is the most important thing and is the origin and vital part of the body, same with your salvation because from the heart comes blood, and with the blood, there is life.

Further reading:

  • Proverbs 4:23

  • John 14:1

  • Matthew 22:37

Declaration:

I am going to be vigilant with my heart and use it to follow God first, then the rest will follow. I won’t let anything carnal affect me negatively but I will turn it around into positivity for my life. I will meditate on the word of God daily until it becomes permanent in my heart. I shall focus on myself and my relationship with God in Jesus name. Amen.

DAY FIVE

The gift of healing

There are many gifts that God gives and those gifts, they are irrevocable. Meaning it can not be taken back. When God gives you a gift he doesn’t regret or have remorse of it that He will change His mind because God never makes mistakes (Numbers 23:19). So any gift God gives has a reason and a purpose for that person even if they can’t see it right now. Even if you seem unqualified at this moment, God will be the one to qualify you.

1 Corinthians 12:8-9 says, “for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the same Spirit”. One Spirit can distribute many different gifts to people individually, so that each one has “gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us” (Romans 12:6). We can’t all have the same gift, otherwise how will we have need for one another. But in terms of gifts, especially the gift of healing, these gifts are distributed to help others in the body of Christ rather than ourselves. If we take 1 Corinthians 12:21 which says “the eye cannot say to the hand “I have no need for you” nor again the head to the feet “I have no need of you””. The eye can see when harm comes towards

the body but when a fly enters the eye, the eye is now stuck for help. You try using your hand to locate it blindly or use someone else’s eye to look for it for you. Same thing with a broken hand, that same hand can’t hold itself in place on its own. It needs help from the other hand.

This was the case for the very anointed, prophet Elisha. He healed many, from a deceased baby, leprosy and even to the barren ground and unhealthy waters. However, when it came himself, he was unable to perform healing, to the point where a sickness took his life. However the gift of healing did not depart from him, when his bones were being buried, some spies located where he was being buried, so they took a leap of faith and threw a dead body into Elisha’s tomb and that man was revived from the moment he touched the bones of Elisha and was raised to his feet (2 Kings 13:21). This extraordinary gift was also exhibited through Paul, to the point where the bible calls them ‘unusual miracles’ because that gift of healing that Paul had, he was able to use handkerchiefs and aprons as an instrument of healing people in Acts 19:11-12. But the only reason why this worked for Paul is because it’s like Paul had left his scent on that handkerchief or apron, so much so that the demons recognised that this one is Paul. That scent, so to say, was his anointing that allowed the demons to recognise that they should not mess with this one.

Therefore, exercise the gifts you’ve been given by God and don’t neglect them cause Paul didn’t know he could use handkerchiefs to heal people until he did it because he was the first person recorded in the bible to heal in such a way. That healing can be transferred into the things we touch and even wear, if we look at Jesus, the very hem of his garment carried healing as well. These gifts have been given unto men to allow us to help one another because God doesn’t do anything useless through a man.

Further reading:

  • Ephesians 4:8

  • 1 Corinthians 12:30

  • 1 Corinthians 12:4-5

Declaration:

I will use the gift God has given me to help His people. I will work as one member to do the work of Christ within the body of Christ and not neglect help from my people in Christ. With my gift of healing I shall provoke napkins or even my clothing to heal others. Thank you God for choosing me and seeing me as fit enough to do your work and heal others. Thank you for taking my weakness and qualifying me regardless.

DAY SIX

Why am I not getting healed?

There could be many reasons why but the main ones could be familiarity and lack of relationship with God.

Familiarity is one that is hard to notice if you are the one with it. It can prevent you from receiving your healing from the man of God if you’re too close in relation with each other. Because then you can grow a sense of familiarity to them. This is because dishonour is likely to take place. Take Jesus for example, He said in Mark 6:4-5, “”A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”  Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.” He mentioned ‘his own relatives’ and ‘his own house’ because those are the people that saw him grow up from a young baby. So when you’ve changed the nappies of a man with all the glory and power there is, your vision can become distorted to only see them as still being young child that you saw grow up. Especially when they are still younger than you. This limited Jesus to only heal a few sick people because of their familiarity. The bible says “He could not”, meaning it was basically impossible for Him to do so even though He had all the power. It is possible to limit God in your life, it doesn’t mean He is unable but in that circumstance, you have restricted Him from moving in your life. The same way you can make the word of God of no effect with tradition and religion (Mark 7:13). That doesn’t mean the word of God isn’t powerful but that humans can nullify and deprive it by depriving the word from it’s force and authority (akuroó meaning of no effect in Greek) because God can only move in the parameter you have set with or without realising. So therefore, with familiarity, it is difficult to honour. You can not honour what you don’t recognise but it is possible to have a close relationship with God and not become too familiar. A way to do this is by knowing when to humble yourself when you come before God. And when you do that to remove any titles that you’ve been given, whether you’re a prophet or teacher or doctor and come to God as a child. And to come to Him empty so that he may completely fill you up Himself. Removing all things that you used to know, whether true or not and allow God to reveal a present truth to you.

Familiarity is also possible in relationships, like Michal for example, when she saw David dancing and worshiping with all his might, through the window. She became embarrassed as she says in 2 Samuel 6:20 when she said “shamelessly uncovered himself”. She took it personal and thought of the other women that could have potentially seen him dancing. This was Michal’s inability to recognise him as a man of God. She was seeing him as her man in that moment in time, that's why a bit of jealously entered her because her feelings got in the way. Thats why David replied saying that what he was doing “it was before the Lord… therefore I will play music before the Lord, I will be even more undignified than this and will be humble in my own sight”. If this was Job, he would’ve said the same thing he said to his wife, “you speak as a foolish woman speaks” (Job 2:10) because job’s wife also held that familiarity, because the ‘of God’ part became silent to her, making him just a man. How can she tell him to curse God, we’ll never know but it doesn’t make us any better than her. But in the case of Michal, due to her lack of honour in that moment, she became barren from then onwards (2 Samuel 6:23).

That's why it’s important that God checks your heart daily cause you will never know what’s embedded in your character. Sometimes when you do something once or say something once, it can either be an out of character moment/a mistake or it can be a character problem. And it is out of the heart that those issues arise because it is out of the mouth that the heart speaks (Luke 6:45). Unless satan controls it for a second like he did with Peter. But give all you heart to God, so that when you speak, it is His words that is upon your tongue and not anyone else’s. This will lead to a good relationship with God with no familiarity.

Further reading:

  • Luke 6:45

  • Jeremiah 9:24

Declaration:

I shall not familiarise myself to the Lord to the point where I hinder His movement in my life. Im ready to remove all this that I know, so that God can do a new thing in my life. I will open the door for healing in my life and use it to also glorify God. God has loved me before I loved Him and has chosen me as a royal priesthood. So with or without my healing I will bless His name. And I will glory in knowing Him alone. Amen

DAY SEVEN

The perks of healing

The reason why we need healing is because something was wrong with our flesh that needs fixing in order to encourage others or to allow our full focus on what’s really important, without worrying. It’s our flesh and soul that needs healing and never our spirit. There is no such thing as spiritual healing, though it may sound good. Our spirits have become one with the Lord when we’re born again (1 Corinthians 6:17). Therefore, our spirits have been perfected and are sat with God right now in heavenly places, seated in Mount Zion (Hebrews 12:22). We are citizens of heavenly Jerusalem in the spirit.

Because it is not our spirit that sins, meaning it is not our spirts that need salvation, but it is our souls, mentioned in 1 Peter 1:9. Ezekiel 18:20 says “the soul who sins will die”. Although, there is hope for our souls but there’s no hope for our flesh. Our flesh is doomed already as it cannot please God (Romans 8:8), it’s natural desires are corrupt (Romans 7:18), it is a mortal body that will be removed when we are raised with Christ because 1 corinthians 15:53 says “this mortal must put on immortality”. How amazing is that? Immortality can never perish.

So, as your spirits are with God right now, the aim is to align your soul with your spirit to fully be able to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh, therefore not satisfying the desires of the flesh. So, where healing is needed it is important to know, you have control of that circumstance in faith. Before and after your healing, you ought to praise God. Confuse the devil and dance when the doctor tells you, you’re ill, throw a party when you feel heartbreak, a toe ache or a headache. That’s the meaning of giving someone the other cheek. To confuse them until the evil they tried to do becomes ineffective. God is always good regardless. Don’t be disheartened. You don’t have to wait for your healing. Be healed at this very moment. Because it is already done! Yes, your faith has made you well!

Further reading:

  • Romans 5:4

  • James 1:3

Declarations:

I receive the healing that God has in store for me. I believe that this illness or problem or this evil that someone has tried to do against me, God will turn it around for my good. I will not give the devil something to shout about and praise God regardless of my circumstance as character and perseverance are being built right now. I’ll always look towards the positive things and speak life and speak health into my life until it turns into my reality. Because I am already healed! I thank you God for never forgetting me, in Jesus name. Amen.
