This thing that we call christianity, I realised, that it is not how we've seen it to be. Because personally who else was made to believe that the ONLY way we can speak to God is through our Pastor ('Pastor pray for me') or that the way you come to church is the way we should always approach God? Girl, I did not know you can banter with the Lord and He won't rebuke you.
The jokes me and God be having sometimes, you would think I'm talking to one of my girls.
People often go wrong thinking that saying some personal things or jokey things means you don't honour who you are talking to. The greatest respect there is, is the one where you can tell someone how it is, the good and bad. Like our parents, back when I couldn't joke with my parents, there were some stuff I would hide from them and stuff that I would reveal to them. When my dad used to teach me maths I could barely see my paper because my eyes were full of tears, because I didn't know the answers. So then if I was then struggling with math I wouldn't tell him and I'd pretend to have knowledge in all mathematics and help my own self (the struggles..)
But its not like that with God. Look at Moses, when he was struggling, he was open enough with God to say this what you have given me is too much oooh (my version of Numbers 11). That goes to the concept of relationship rather than religion. Religion is an ideology based on following rules and laws that have been set. 1 Corinthians 6:12 says "all things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any". Just because it is a law doesn't mean it is helpful. The law is holy and that's the truth but Paul is telling us not to be under the power of any. It's possible to follow all these laws and completely miss Jesus if He was to come right in front of you. Furthermore, if you break one law, you've broken them all (James 2:10, "Whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it"). But yeah, following a set of rules for the sake of following them can be become a pattern, which can become a tradition. Like christmas for example, that's a tradition, it comes round every year and on the same day, whether you believe it or not, people still participate. That's why matthew 15:6 says what it says.
Having a relationship with Christ is what does it for me, being a friend of God like Abraham (James 2:23 - "He was called a friend of God"). Nahhh, I would be too gassed! As in, for you to say that you know God is deep, "let him who glories glory in this: That he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord", my days will be fufilled. And to then be KNOWN by God on top of that, the word fufilled wouldn't be a good enough expression of my days now. Have me feeling like Carlton inside...
I want everyone to feel like this everytime they think about God. That's where my ulitmate joy will stem from (lol, I know moist, but its true). Because in that day when God says "Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you", me, I won't want to be there, that's not what God's gonna say to me and I hope you guys will carry the same energy becuh'... Guys, "assuredly", means condfiently, without a doubt and with no leeway room. Don't nobody want that.
God has everything He needs and more but He is also seeking for such a relationship with us. Yes, the God that created everything there is, is lacking something. Whose Earth is His footstool and whose throne is Heaven, but is looking for a place to rest (Isaiah 66:1). Imagine! Like God, You said in Pslams 50:10 that "every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills", what more could you need, that's dinner sorted for the whole year. But He wants us, all of us, your heart, soul and your small strength too. We are the only things made in his image and He is "seeking" for those that worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23).
Speaking to God daily helps and should be a way of life. Conversing with Him, a conversation can only work if it goes two ways, so being able to discern God's voice in everything is key.
Personally, I can be driving to work, cooking or walking and I speak to the Lord. Even when I see something shocking in these streets, I be like "Lord, come look at this..".
God is not looking for faults or waiting for you to mess up, He's there to have a relationship with you and for you to come to Him for anything and everything. Then everything else will follow, you pursing the things of the Kingdom, the job you want, the Mercedes you want, they will all follow. He doesn't want to hold you over the wrong things that you have done so you be made in bondage of that guilt, Nooo. That's what it means by the liberty that is in Christ. Stand fast therefore in liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be burdened again with a yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1).
But yeah guys, that's all for today's blog, I'm excited to share my journeys and my perspective but I'd love to interact with you guys about y'all experiences and even about what you feel on what I've just said. Let's discuss!
Also, let me know if you guys what me to do another post on what it means to worship him in spirit and truth or anything else that I touched on lightly.
Many blessings, D.
